i just bought an 89 f150 4x4 with a fresh 300 inline 6. the truck is a 5 speed and runs great. i have plans for 4 inch lift and 35s in the very near future, and plan on bein in the mud and creeks as much as possible come spring. my question is is the 300 adequate enuff to turn 35s in mud and get me thru fairly ruff areas of the the local creekin place near my home? its fresh with less than 1k miles. i dont wanna swap it unless i have too. most guys i know with similar trucks have 5 liters and 5.8 liters. i wanna be able to keep up with them in rough country lol

I drug a worn out stock 300 straight six, 85 f150 swb 4x4 on 40" interco's in 4-low through everything you could imagine for a few years. They aren't fast, but you can pull stumps with em.
You should be fine; invest in a good clutch cause you will be slippin the shit out of it to get your torque.
I have a 86 f150 300 2wd sitting the in driveway right now.

The only Ford I've ever owned had a 300 in it and I loved that engine.
