I am going to back up my Playstation before I send it off to get fixed. It is just a 40gb. Has anyone done this before? I am just wanting to backup all my saves. I was going to buy either a 8gb flash drive or 16gb; will this be enough?. And does anyone know of a way to move the information over to my computer instead.

As always thanks in advance, I know you guys will help me out. :D

Get an external hard drive. It's your best bet, and it's what I use

Hook it up through a USB hub, and go into your PS3 settings. There is a "backup data" or it might be "data restore" in the system settings list.

There are two options: A full backup, where it makes an EXACT copy of the internal hard drive onto the external, which takes a few hours, or you can just backup the save files, etc.

I did this when I sent my PS3 to be fixed, and the only thing that didn't carry over was my Rock Band save file. I lost all my songs and high scores. Everything else worked, though.

If you need more specific instructions, check the playstation site.
