Three position switch to the left of the wheel with a volume knob on top. Three positions- 1, 2, and 3. 1 and 3 makes a weird digital alarm sound for 2 seconds or so, and the middle does nothing- I assume an off setting. The 1 and 3 settings also turn a small light by the gear shifter and convertible top control from 1- orange colored light, 2- off and 3- green colored light. In the picture attached, the switch is in the 1 setting.
The sound it makes on the 1 and 3 setting has gone off while driving randomly, but I have only heard it once or twice with out any explanation. The volume knob obviously changes the sound level of that weird alarm sound.
I have no clue what this does. If anyone out there has any knowledge about this, please let me know. Driving me nuts. I've looked a little on the BMW forums, but came up dry.
Actually, I thought it was stock. Some sort of alarm or something? But the light down by the gear shifter that coincided with the switch threw me off. And if it was a chip, why would it have this volume knob? I'm stumped...
Im still voting you look under the dash and find your way to whatever it is. find the thing that actually makes noise. take a picture of that. it would be more helpful. Showing us a video of the noise it makes wont really help identify it
True, I was thinking more of the light also. But yes, after work today I plan on pulling it inside and finding what it leads to. Just haven't seen anything like this. Thought there might be an easy answer out there.
1 = -power setting which is why you get the sad orange light, probably for winter conditions and valet
2 = stock power
3 = +power setting hence the green light, I'd recommend you use 93 for this
its an aftermarket K40 1000/2000 series radar detector and laser jammer, if you pull the dash panel off it should have a control box the switch coming out of. you should have a front and a rear sensor too in the bumper areas
THANK YOU! This is exactly what it is. The knob switches between city and highway, and there should be front and rear sensors, but they have either been removed or hidden really well. I need to see if I can follow some wires to see if they are still around because I have heard it go off, just not very often.
I think it actuates the dildo to pop out of the driver seat. From what I've read.
