Well, I was driving the CRX to work and a mean deer came running into the side of my car.

Damage destroyed the passenger fender, made the passenger door wavy, busted out my EDM corner light, and put a dent in the hood. I had not originally planned on painting the car until after the B16A swap, but it looks like the body work is happening before the motor swap. I bought a used fender and had it shipped to me, but it came in with more damage than expected...the corner was bent pretty badly.

I straightened it as best I could.

Bought some more EDM corner lights, as well as an EDM spoiler since these were coming from Belgium anyway.

Also, my dad drew in my birthday card. He hits me where it hurts...

I started removing trim and figuring out a plan of action on the body work.

The STi has to park outside until I get the CRX done. More incentive to get the CRX painted as soon as I can!

Tried my hand at body filler for the first time, since I will be using it in a few door dings, etc.

More test fitting the replacement fender and smoothing out the ripples in the door.

Continuing pulling off trim. Found a small amount of surface rust on the driver side that will have to be cleaned up.

Knocking out an existing dent in the driver fender before body filler to smooth it out.

Well, it's been a little while, and I've made a little bit of progress and picked up some things. Running low on money at the moment, so this is being put on the back burner a bit.
I would love to source a ZC hood, but it doesn't seem cost effective to buy one and have it shipped over. I decided to just do some initial work on the hood and see where it leads.

Working my way around the car, learning what to do and not to do. Definitely not the greatest order of operations, but I think it will turn out.

Drilled out the holes for the EDM spoiler and did a dirty, loose, test fit.

Working through the grits to get a smoother finish to prepare for primer.

Moving to the roof. Part of the antenna cover broke when removed. I need to source a new plastic cover.

Sunroof didn't look too bad when it was on the car. Only a few small bubbles. After pulling it off, I determined there was more rust than I anticipated, and it was going to be a challenge to get it repaired.

I decided to buy a replacement and contemplated a carbon fiber panel, but I had read too many stories about poor fitment. Luckily, I found a post by a guy in Portugal that makes OEM quality composite material replacements. No more worries of rust! Took about a week for him to make it and ship to me! Highly recommended.

I regularly browse the Facebook CRX groups for parts I need, and I ran across someone selling some like new B-series Hasport mounts. I had to scoop them up in preparation for my B16A swap coming down the line.

Also, while waiting for the sunroof, I decided to swap out my old pedal covers with some new OEM ones. It's the small things that make the biggest difference.

I pulled out the bumpers and started working on them recently. Not too much progress on them, but getting started.

And bringing me to today, I decided to repaint the spoiler, as it was in pretty rough condition.

Pulled out the bumper supports and decided to sand them down and give them a couple coats of paint. These things seems to be pretty prone to rusting, so I want to keep them in good shape!

I also started masking off the car for primer. I don't really know the best order to do this, so it's taking me a lot longer than I thought. I still have to pull off the door handles and tape up the jambs so overspray doesn't get in there. I will probably not primer the entire car, and only hit the spots that I feel needs it due to larger scratches and body work.

My goal is to get it primed by this coming weekend. I think I can probably do it, as long as I get started as soon as I get home from work in the evening. It may end up waiting until the weekend, however.

Sprayed on a guide coat and started blocking with 320. Ran into some low and high spots mainly on the areas that I had to do some body work on.

Had to straighten out the body line on the hood. I noticed after the first coat of primer that it wasn't straight from where I fixed a dent.

Started masking off the areas that I needed to put on another coat of primer. I needed to redo the hood and both doors.

Hood body line is not perfect, but much better. I can probably live with that. Put another coat of primer on the front bumper since I had sanded through in several spots. Also sanded the rear bumper with 600, since its paint was in good shape.
Next steps: block sand the newly primed parts with 320 grit, then 600 over the entire car.

Super cool to see a Crx, not many running around anymore. Brings back memories from 15 years ago or so. Sucks that a Deer decided to attack, but glad the damage wasn't worse and that you've stuck with it, as well all know it will turn out really nice in the end. Props to you, keep us updated!
