Chime in VW vets
Quick story:

2000 Jetta GLS 2.0 Automatic 195K miles
Car worked fine all week. Friday when driving home from work car lost power quickly I pulled to the shoulder it died. After steam cleared I discovered that my water outlet flange was severely cracked. I was towed home. I replaced the water outlet flange, and the thermostat. Car will turn over weakly but wont start. Sometimes it turns strong but still wont start. When it turns there are not grinding or bad noises.

Have checked battery, scanned it with obdII sensor with no codes, new ignition coil a few months ago. Timing belt is intact but don't know if its in time. Fuel pump engages so its getting fuel. No water or coolant in oil.

I'm in Frankfort, text or call if you have any ideals. Thanks

Did you noticed the temp gauge? You might have blown the headgasket or fucked the head or what not. do a compression test/leak down test and start from there.

Try a compression test. That will give you the best quickest answer whether its ruined or not. How long did you drive it overheating?
Ive been up to my eyes in VWs for almost 10 years now. Shoot me a PM whenever you get those compression readings.
