it's amazing the car finally stop right side up. It speaks highly of whoever built that cage that the driver survived.

Speaks to a lot of things IMO. He was using the best in safety gear. The Racetech seat being chief among those things along with the cage, HANS, SFI padding, etc.
Just want everyone to be aware this happened at 95 mph. It's not an F1 car launching at 180. It could happen to you. Take your track time and even your street driving seriously.

I haven't heard yet how the brakes failed, but you can see in the video (if this is the video I'm thinking of) the braking forces on the g-meter peaked once, bottomed out and then peaked again at about half power right before turning the wheel and going off track. My guess is a brake line was compromised.

braided brake lines FTW All my cars have had them just for the feel. I'm betting he had braided lines anyways.

Starting to hate that turn at M-O. Saw a car get air two years ago during the EMCO race.
Glad to see the driver was okay even though the car didn't make it.

A post by the driver on another board indicated the brake fluid reservoir was still full after the crash, so it doesn't look like a busted line. I'm wagering a failure in the ABS system somewhere.

I wonder if thats under warranty?
I thought the ABS fail safe was manual operation with no ABS? Reservior could have still been somewhat full from an external pressure bleedoff if it only happened once. Think about how many times you have to pump the brakes when bleeding to dump all the fluid.

Depends on the mode of failure. Seal, crack, or leak in the wrong place and you have no pressure.
And you're absolutely right, he didn't have a lot of time to pump the pedal a bunch and drastically lower the fluid level in the reservoir.

It isn't too bad, but do it sideways and you go from track to grass immediately which is how all of the course is. The gravel pit is right next to the fence.

Ditto. It's more of a downward slope than a drop off. Now the very next turn however is a drop off...and it's part of the track.
