I'll give you a spin in my 370 if you want. I'm not sure how different it is from the 350 though, it's been a long while since I've driven one to really compare and contrast the two. I just know I <3 my 370Z.

stay away from the 03's unless they've had the tranny replaced or rebuilt.
stay away from 06's unless they've had the engine replaced.
there are also some other minor things to look out for. like CPS sensors going bad in 03s, 03-04 valve cover gaskets leaking(you have to buy a whole new valve cover to fix this). etc etc. but, nothing as major as my first 2 lines^^
it wasn't till 07 that they got the HR. so if you want to spend hi "teens" or low 20's, get an 07+. if you want to stay under 16k, get an 04-05.
they made several different models with different options, so basically it comes down to how picky you are with what features/color/year/price you're wanting.

as a owner heres my rundown.
window motors/regulators are notorious for failures. i've had them replaced on both doors twice.
all 03-05 trannies are noisy, but no common failures other than those caused by misuse.
interior compartments are cheaply made and are prone to breaking in the joints, your buying a 350z not a g35 tho, you have to remember that your buying the no frills car of the two..
cars are not meant for creature comfort, they ride very firm. also the cabin allows alot of noise to enter from road/engine/exhaust. while this isnt a bad thing if you like loud cars and stiff suspensions, if you ever plan to take trips i'd suggest taking a different vehicle any extended drives leaves me with a sore back and a slight headache.
i love the cars tho, torquey as shit, looks great, handles considerably well.

while i love nissans you really are kinda defeating the purpose of a daily by selling your IS. Stock for stock your IS will always be the better of the two cars to drive around town. It's almost just as powerful, lookes just as good, and can haul more than two ppl around if need be. I think the "i just want somthing different and new, and like to think about all the different possiblities" bug is biting ya.
Also, don't give up on your projects man. I think you had a good thing going with your 2J build. There's no reason you couldn't setup your IS with a moddest 2J and hammer down, and then swap back in your old engine if you ran into problems. It's easy to think about other possiblities in the middle of a project, but when you get closer to the end, all the uneasyness tends to fade.
If it were up to me, keep the IS, and nicely mod. Keep the original engine and be able to re swap it incase you ran into difficulties, and mainly be able to focus on one car. If you really want a hardcore drag, drift, or autox car, I could understand selling the IS, however, if you just want somthing fun to drive with 400hp, then having a nice daily, and another "project car" will just devide your budget. With keeping just the IS, you allow yourself the ablilty to really learn everything about the car, and have the money on stand by for if something was to happen. Just my 2 pennys, but i'm sorta following the same philosophy with my subaru.

Getting a 350Z has nothing to do with my 2JZ project im doing. The 2JZ isn't going in the IS300. The IS300 will never be modded more than what it is currently. The 350Z would just be a switch. Only draw back would be loosing the 4 door aspect. But I'm not really needing to have to have a 4 door in my life right now.

I'm not scrapping the 2JZ. Just replanned its route. I'm going to build a cheap car powered by my engine, so when I wrap it around a tree, I just get a new cheap chassis and not ruin a $10k+ car.
Why is everyone crying about this? Don't worry, I'll have my precious little 2JZ street car to still roll all you up. I just would like to have a 350Z becuase they look a little more sports carish over an IS300.

Hey Big Pawr wanna get rid of that 2jz motor set to someone who might use it?
My buddy has someone buying his RB setup and hes looking into either a turbo v8 setup or a 2jz. What tranny do you have for it, whats it missing and how much you want?
