View Full Version : Tension rod bushings, need a place that can press them in.
The crappy napa machine shop couldnt figure out how to use their press, so i need to find a place to press in some Whiteline Polyurethance Bushing. Any ideals?

Yes I thought about those, figured it would ride like shit. So how does it ride?

I popped mine in w/ a 6" vise and some thin wood to protect the t-rod & bushing. (The t-rods & bushings are the same on the Z32 & the 240sx)

i noticed very little difference in the "ride quality" of the car, and honestly i was expecting some harshness, but nothing more happened. Now granted my suspension is so stiff that i might have mistaked the rough ride for my everyday driving ( i have tein HE's 8kg front 6 kg rear). anyways i've heard from others with stock like suspension that they dont roughen the ride up to much.
Now as far as feedback and response... i was in heaven. My previous TC rods were popped and the wheel shimmied and my turn in was like poo (imagine slow and mushy :) ). Afterwords i damn near ran into stuff on the inside of turns because turning is much more responsive. If your considering going with spherical ball bearing units, there is a group buy for tein and they sell them for $170 for the pair. (www.groupbuycenter.com)

I ordered a pair of cusco's but they are on back order, or so the vendor told me.

I am not for sure if the quality is worth the extra price yet. Guess I'll be finding out.

well only time will tell if the extra cost will be worth it, however i am very impressed with their rear upper contol arms. They fit perfect, easy adjustments (as with most others when they are brand new... but after a few miles corrosion eats away and well dammit shit can get rusted... but my cusco's have been real good about that).
Anyways this is what made me choose the cusco arms over jic (for an extra $50 over jic price though), everybody except cusco uses open spherical ball joints that can be subject to debrise, rust, or any other sort of that nature, but cusco uses rubber around all the exterior peices of the ball joint... it really looks good and inspires some confidence on how long they will last. just take a look and you will see what i mean.
oh yeah and they are that cool ass cusco blue :)
Well Louisville Auto Spring came threw for me.

w00t! Looks good. Sometime when I have lots of money to throw at my car, I'm going to replace all of my 116k mile bushings.

I figured I would replace all the suspension stuff and rear end before I put in a good motor.
