one dealer in cincinnati, ohio has had STis on the lot selling for MSRP for quite some time now. I drove there to check them out and almost bought one. now i toss and turn in bed wondering if i should head out there again and just buy it. currently they have two black and one silver. they are nice! i can't understand how cincinnati can have STis in stock considering most large cities have wait-lists

probably cause they are over priced and have way to much mark up on them

Overpriced how? $30,995 for a 300 hp, AWD, limited slip front and back, computer controlled center, six speed, Baer brake equipped monster?
You cannot take a regular WRX and make it even approach an STi for anywhere near 31K.
If a dealer is marking one up, find another dealer.

Unless I read wrong didn't Vishnu tear up the STi in the latest issue of SCC? Maybe they spent more than what I'm thinking on the car.

If it's the Subaru dealership I'm thinking of in Cincy, Beaumont, then they aren't over priced. They're the cheapest dealership I've seen or heard of selling STi's. They tried to get us to buy one when we went up there to get a black 02. Guy told us we could drive it off the lot for $2000 over invoice.

Check the article again, Dev. The tuners' cars had a lot more money in them than a stock STi costs. Not to mention that the Vishnu car also was running on R-compound rubber, which was a major advantage for them.

They said the differences in the times is about exactly what R-compound would give.

Welp, looks like my reading glasses need to be brought out. I wasn't sure if I had read the article right or not. Thanks for the correction Rich.

Exactly.
For example:
WRX: $25,000 (about)
Coilover Suspension: $1400
New Turbo: $950
New Intercooler: $900
New Injectors: $650
Header and uppipe: $450
Turbo Back Exhaust: $1100
17" Wheels and Hi-Po Tires: $1300
New Bushing Set: $180
New Swaybars (f-r): $338
Strut Tower Bars (f-r): $374
Unichip/Utec plus dyno tuning: $1000
Grand Total: $33,642 plus taxes, title, license and fees.
Now, for $30,995 plus taxes, title, license, and fees, you get equivalent equipment with more upgrade potential, a much stronger 6-speed, two limited slip differentials, and a WARRANTY.
If you were to completely level the playing field and add stonger gears (3800 + installation) to the transmission, or upgrade to a 6 speed (6000+), AND add the front LSD (1800), you're almost to forty grand.
For what it is, the STI is a steal (EVO too, for that matter, though you don't get a tasty six speed).

The Vishnu Car did have R-compounds, yes. But its not like it had Hoosiers, they were A032R's which is about the streetiest R-compound around. Hell out here in Cali most people USE them as STREET tires.
PLUS
The stock STI tires are no normal street tire. They are very very close to a R compound. Average out here people are getting about 20,000 miles on them and thats it. The STI here took second in AS against about 8 Corvettes on R-compounds, and the driver had NEVER autoX'ed before in his life.
now thats a car.

It is spoken for. 10 people? wtf was he talking about. We only had 2 people on it and 2 STI's are gone so the next one is open to the public (that's only if we even get another one)

Subaru of Gwinnett has two blue STi's fresh off the truck, not spoken for, available at MSRP.

jeff wyler subaru has 3 sti on the lot at msrp (it only took me 1.5 hours to drive there), none of the other cincinnati dealers have any sti any more however almost all cincinnati dealers seemed pretty willing to go close to invoice on the 2004 wrx and invoice and maybe then some on any 2003 they have left. but i bet louisville dealers would do that too on the wrx. go to subaru.com and the dealer search box in the top right corner. put in cincinnati, OH and you'll find 4 dealerships in the cincinnati area with phone numbers
