If you look long and hard enough, you can find old-lady owned ones for like $500, if that.

I dunno if you can ever REALLY call an 86 'fast' though in the world of cars like C5 vettes and whatnot.

And Soob, if you're serious, I have one that I might be selling in the next couple of months. It's in pretty damn good shape...no rust, fresh rear axle (new LSD, new axle seals, new powder coated housing), new front fenders. I'll be asking a good bit more than $500 though.

It WAS the fact tehy were cheap, light, disposable RWD cars that apparently have a really good chassis.

But the fact they're cheap was a big thing and now that they're not, they lost alot of appeal.

That has alot to do with the NEW reason they're popular. But the original reason was the car itself.

"Drift master' Tsuchya (or however it's spelled) learned and mastered his skills in an AE86, and sings it's praises almost constantly. That has alot to do w/ the car's popularity in Japan, as well as here.

that looks great. they are SUBER hard to find in decent shape. check ebay, everyone says "drift" and its a totaly piece of rusting shithole that sat in someone's woods until they watched a drifting show on MTV.

I just picked up an 85 GTS this past weekend here locally, found it in a junk lot. Beat up and rusty, but has 92k on the engine and LSD and paid very little for it.

I don't know about everyone else, but I love both of mine. The car has a great look and is crazy fun to drive. Lightweight and RWD, but now a days with this stupid drift fad the cars go for crazy money. I don't care what anyone else thinks about them, I love the car.
