I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME OUT. I HAVE AN 87 VOLKSWAGEN CABRIOLET W/1.8. IT'S AN AUTOMATIC W/ AIR. THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS THAT THE MAIN POWER WIRE GOING INTO THE FUSE BLOCK FROM THE BATTERY IS GETTING HOT. THE RELAY AND FUSE FOR MY FUEL PUMP IS ALSO GETTING WARM AND I MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING TO HELP BECAUSE I HAVE ALREADY BURNT ONE FUSEBLOCK UP IN THE FUEL PUMP FUSE LOCATION. HERE ARE THE STEPS I HAVE TAKEN TO FIX THE PROBLEM SO FAR.
BATTERY: NEW GROUND WIRE FROM BAT. TO FRAME W/ NEW TERMINAL ENDS.
FUSE BLOCK: I TRACED THE MAIN POWER WIRE FROM THE BAT. TO THE FUSE BLOCK. IT IS A 10 GA. WIRE WITH NO RELAY FUSE OF ANYTHING ELSE FROM THE FACTORY. I REPLACED THAT WIRE.
THE FUEL PUMP SLOT ON THE FUSE BLOCK CONTROLS THE OXYGEN SENSOR, FUEL DISTRIBUTOR, COLD START INJECTOR, INTERNAL FUEL PUMP, EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP, AND SENDING UNIT. I HAVE REPLACED BOTH FUEL PUMPS AND TESTED EVERYTHING ELSE AND IT ALL CHECKS OUT.
IF ANYONE COULD HELP OUT I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. WITH ALL THAT I'VE DONE IT'S STILL PROBABLY SOMETHING STUPID THAT I'VE OVERLOOKED. ALSO IF ANYONE NEEDS PARTS FOR THESE CARS I'VE GOT EM.
