ok Im installing a system for a friend, and the back seat has been removed, the problem I am having it that his trunk area offers No good grounds for the AMP, what looks like a metal screw has a plastic theads. What im asking is since the AMP is mounted to the box how can I solve the shortest wire in the install kits problem? can I use and extra power wire that is really long or will that screw the AMP up? what do yall suggest?

are you asking can you use a longer gound wire to ground the amp?

u can use a longer ground, but your best bet would be to just sand down to bare metal in a safe area where you won't hit any wires or fuel lines, and just use a self-tapping screw to ground it

Maybe this is just me, but if you can try splicing another longer wire onto the ground and take it somewhere to ground to the body. And like what was said before sand the area so you will have a good ground.

but a general rule of car audio is to keep main grounds for amps and higher power equipment is to keep the ground 2 foot or shorter, so ya really want it as short as possible. only use more wire if it necessary. a good ground can make a total difference in the way a system sounds

the real deal is to make sure it goes to bare metal. length is not that important aslong as ur not runing it all the way back up to the battery

ok, so i can use the extra wire, another thing today I reallized that unlike my System I had to install the giant fuse, ya know where its in plastic case, how exactly do you do it right? Ok a few more problems: I installed the RCAs and the REM to the back of the unit, but im left with a black wire bundle, I used the Blue one, I hooked all the wires up minus the Ground no AMP power! Yes I had the unit on, nothing, I guess I need a refreser cus after watching Freddy install My RCA and "the little blue wire" I figure I could do it. from my view it looks just like my AMP why is it not working, oh and why is it when I dissconect the left rear speaker negative and touch the amps ground to it the speaker comes alive? whats up with that?

Tundin could you give me a list of every step I could be missing? or just give me a list of steps to follow and redo every thing.

I know of some sentra guys who have grounded amps and trunk mount batteries to the spare tire bolt. Depending on where the amp is, it could be lesss than 1foot long...Josh
