View Full Version : The Rex is up and running...

Well, it looks like I got most of the demons out of the Rex, and what I didn't get John took care of on the dyno at Tachyon. The only problems left are the plugs and finishing up the water sprayer. Made 330bhp @ 17psi. Get the plugs replaced and the sprayer and we'll go for 20-21. Its ripping some serious a77 as of late! It felt to be like it was bogging off the line due to the bigger turbo, but it still ripped a Mustang off the line and he sprayed me.

I'm happy with it, but now the 5th synchro is scratching a little. Oh well.

Just thought I'd give an update.... like anyone cares!

Later,
B-Kerr

T-rex never had a busa motor or a turbo.

Yep, that's me with the blue rex and the seibon hood. John is/is from Grossman. He took it to Tachyon. 227whp. They told John the dyno had been putting out low numbers though. Right now the battle of the plugs is preventing anymore boost. New ones should be in today if all goes as planned. I'm running really rich, so I will try to squeeze a couple more pounds out until John gets my sprayer set-up in and we can retune.

tachyon doesn't have an AWD dyno, automotion does, whcih is around the street from tachyon.... how does 227whp turn to 350flywheel hp? do suby's really have that much drivetrain loss?

Yes yes they do. Stock they are rated at 227bhp. They are usually around 150whp. I know Eric B. was putting down about 260 (correct me if Im wrong). So he roughly had 360-370bhp

~28%, IIRC. So no, not that much.

278.7 AWHP on a Dynapack, which is ~20% lower than a dynojet, according to GodSpeed. He ESTIMATED that he'd have ~345 AWHP on a dynojet, all things being equal.

Hey, sorry for the delay in responding on here... went away for vacation for a few days. Yes, I was mistaken, the car went to Automotion... one of the guys in the shop said he took it to Tachyon... they were mistaken and I just passed the mistake on down the line. The calculation from wheel to flywheel came up at 330. The guys at auto told John that the dyno had been reading low numbers for the past two months (from their personal experience with the dyno and repeat vehicles), so it was their opinion that the actual flywheel numbers should be more like 350. Of course, we all know that a dyno can only be trusted against itself to measure gains from modifications. Six dynos may read six totally different numbers. They just know that car x came in 3 months ago with "y" hp and today he came in and his baseline was 30 less hp than before. Sorry for the miscommunication. :)

The car has a slight hickup when I drop a gear to pass someone. I usually happens at about 4500 and is regardless of trottle position. From a dead dig, it never misses a beat. I hope to get the water sprayer on in the next few weeks and get the boost up to about 20-21. Now if I could just get the time to wire all the guages up!

BTW, I have roasted 2 Mustangs as of late spraying - one with slicks... hehe... I love this thing!

I put this in the other post.... I mis-spoke when I stated that John (from Grossman) took my car to Tachyon (which is where a Grossman employee said it was taken) for dyno work. Apparently he took it to Automotion or somewhere. The empoloyee just guessed and told me and I just sent the info down the wire. Sorry about that!
