Agree?
65/35 RWD bias, and interchangable along with a turbo gauge on the steering wheel among other things!!! The MT article on it vs. the new Evo is pretty awesome, a great read!

Who the hell would vote for #2???
Anyway I can't even imagine what 0-30 in 1.2 seconds feels like. :eek3: OOC!

the torque split is adjustable via the dccd on both the 04 & 05 models.
the boost gauge is an option $180 i believe
improvements over the 04sti:
slightly quicker steering rack (not evo quick, but better)
wider wheels (8" vs 7.5", but they still use the same size tires  )
5x114 bolt pattern (more popular, not really a benefit)
new helical front diff (some debate wether it's better)
spt short shifter (most come with it, but like the boost gauge they charge for it)
aluminum lateral links
updated hvac controls

Id like to lock it in with a mod'd WRX sometime to see how the car does before I jump right into a turbo upgrade.
the plan is to immediately break the tranny, I heard they were cheap

chrisfranklin... i've seen a couple of your posts on nasioc. so when are you going to go crazy with the mods (or have you already started). i'm gun shy about modding my sti. i might go with the cobb accessport for relatively cheap power but so many differing opinions that i've read about the accessport for the sti.

i sold my ap to a friend here locally. he's running stg1 and likes it.
i had boost issues with the ap, which later turned out to be a ripped inlet hose that has since been fixed.
it seems to be pretty reasonable to mod up to about 375-400 whp on stock internals.
beyond that it's only a matter of time before you see a piston failure.
imho, the ap is a nice, simple reflash that does a good job of making the sti smoother, gas mileage a bit improved, and all around better.
the cobb streettuner is being beta tested in the next few weeks, with a hopeful release sometime this fall (oct or nov)
i may go back to that if it's as good as presumed. utec is nice, but as a piggy back unit it has some issues with transition points between stcok ecu and when the utec takes over.
the biggest thing holding me back is the amount of parts that need to be updated with this car.
injectors are pretty much maxed out @ 310 whp or so.
turbo is maxed @ the same level
tmic seems to work ok @ increased levels, but in most tuners opinions it is a major restriction once upgrading the turbo.
not to mention the unique pkg of the subaru engine even makes bolt-on turbos a bit tricky.
most seem to underperform when compared to comparable offerings in other configurations.
a custom rotated mount turbo will yield much greater results.
then again it all depends on your overall power goals.
i can't foresee myself going beyond the 375-390 whp mark in this car.

Wow, I can't believe I am seeing 3 no votes, I do not understand what is bad about the car, everything seems freaking awesome! I am considering testing the car out when I get out of school as a purchase if they keep improving the STi. I can live with its suddle, powerful look a lot more than the Evo's stuck out " HI! I DRIVE AN EVO " looks.

Eric 'only' had around 278 AWHP on his WRX when he sold it, and it was a ~ a 12.0 sec car, IIRC.

if it doesn't come in red, then I don't want it. I was very dissappointed with the 04's not being in red. There was rumor of them bringing it in red for 05.....any truth?

The Evo and STI dont look any different to me. They both have flares coming out of every angle and huge wings. The STI's is bigger so that only means they are the bigger ricer.
Dev....you should run Chris and see how much you think you would pull. ;)

You can have it in any color you want... as long as it's black.
Wait, that was a Model T. Nevermind.
Anyway, I want one of those Cobb Scoobys. I don't care what color it is! It would go well with the Cobb grill that I use to cook stuff to go with my Cobb Salad. It would look real good sitting in the driveway at the Cobb Castle, too.
Anyone know how to get in touch with those guys? I wonder if they would sponsor a Cobb driving a Cobb.
In case that went over everyones head, my last name is Cobb.
