i'm going to turbo my m3. and i was just wondering if anybody knows of a BMW specialist to install it. i'm thinking about sending it off to Autowerks in flordia. but i don't want to send it down there if there is one closer. the only place in louisville that even comes close is Stein Automotive. so if anyone has any suggestions, or any of the shops that are on the board who would even look at it. thanks

talk to Chew Toy on the board, Matt Noh.
He just had his M3 motor rebuilt locally but i cant remember who did it. But they were a BMW specialist.

There's a white e36 turbo i've seen in middletown a while back, looked oh so clean. Other than that, not many around here.

AA is the ONLY way to go with forced induction and BMW's in my opinion.

I agree. I visited their shop twice over the summer, and those guys are doing some amazing things with BMW's. They are all nice and definately know what they are doing.

I would not trust anyone else to induce force on an E36M3. There's ALOT more to turbocharging that motor than most others.

you got that right.. their upgraded (stage II) kit is 10g's plus you need exhaust, water injection, etc.I would say close to 14-15K if they install it... :eek3:

My oldest brother, Brian, had a '98 that he sent to AA in FloridaIIRC. He sent it there from North Carolina. I think after shipping lol, stageI, clutch, exhaust, service, and other crap it was around $14k. Nine months later a semi "bumped" his back bumper on the freeway causing the car to flip over several times with both he and my mother, who was visiting, in the car. They both walked away rattled, but pretty much unharmed. That thing was pretty damn fast, but he always complained about getting rolled up by the Supras and RX-7s in Charlotte :p

I would say you should talk to:
www.siastuning.com
or if you just care about different BMWs he has done (including Dado's M3), he does pretty much anything.
http://www.siastuning.com/customersbmw.htm
Using Electromotive Tec 3 systems for fuel and ignition. He has built different kits and tuned numerous Bmwsfor different applications.
---------------------------------------------
If you simply have a full system and you want someone just to install it with BMW background I would check out:
www.edgemotorworks.com
Of course all these places are in the bay area, CA (local for me)
Later,
Scott Fraser
tell either of them I sent you, who knows it might help

IIRC, AA did the engine build and turbo install on Dado's M3. Then I think he went with some other type of Engine management because they had problems with the AA software... Might have been Sias..

you could go RMS, they are the only people that are currently making E46 and M roadster SC's, and ive heard nothing but good things from the few people i know running them.

Just to clarify,.. I didn't get my motor rebuilt I bought a new one. I don't know that I would trust anyone around here to rebuild a motor bmw motor right. Sad huh? Turner Motorsport got the motor for me and I had Performance Specialties install it. They did a really good job but it ended up costing a bit more than what I was expecting and Don really didn't have his hands on the car as much as I would have liked. He had one of his other younger mechanics do most of the grunt work which turned out ok, however I would have liked him to do more work on it himself if you know what I mean.
AA makes some really nice kits, I had the pleasure of riding in a white AA Stage 2 (I think) turbo M3 2-3 years ago and the thing was insanely fast.

Vic went out to tune his car. Here are some pictures:
http://www.siastuning.com/customersbmw.htm
Also check out BJ's car, I forgot the name of the tuner down in So Cal but the car really ran poor before Vic tuned it.
Just be careful where you get your stuff done.

Why are you turboing instead of supercharging? You can buy a stable Dinan Supercharger for between $6k and $10k and get and easy 360+ hp.

mechtech makes a good BOLT ON kit...very modest kit with little upgradable capabilities...but still a turbo nonetheless...t3/t4 and a front mount with fuel management...good start IMO
