Well let me tell you a story about what happened to me at knox......

I was racing an old Mazda Rx7GSLSE 13b. Having a blast (as usual) when this guy asked me if he could go for a ride. He was racing novice and wanted a little experience before he had to do it himself. So Im like, sure buddy hop in.:D

Well I hit it.... Hard. Get going through this slalom, exit fast and gun it for my next gate... Well, I mis-judged the turn (it's rare, but it happens) and instead of a fast turn it turned out to be a 180.
Well I had built up so much speed that by the time I went to correct, it was too late... Off we go into an area with lots of gravel on top of pavement...We flew into a harmless, but very wild spin. And he is wimpering something or another. We must have looped two complete circles before we finally stopped..

So we stop and I start heading back on track.. Well,,,,,, our boy wasn't doing too well. I honestly thought the guy had just farted or something, but the smell wouldn't go away:mad: ...

Im talking both windows down and the car smelled terrible! Well I pull back into grid and he gets out. Sets the loaner helmet on the ground, makes a B-Line for his car.... And just leaves.

I have Never seen him since. I think he shit his pants.

:D :DAnd THAT is how GOOD KNOX can be. :D

Bah, that thing is ultra weaksauce. How much HP is in that pic, prolly like 200 or so? :p Nice shiny radiator in that pic too. Almost tried to pass it off for an intercooler.

Some needs to filter your water.

I have some very entertaining IN-Car footage of giving people rides.

They say go, and I never know what to expect out of the passenger seat. ;)
Thank god I haven't ever had anyone try and jump out.:p

Pre-registered and ready to go. I'll have sparkling new brake pads for that event too.

I take it the surface is concrete. Is it grooved? How badly are my tires going to chunk?

I wouldn't agree with your appraisement of me as a pro, I'm a mediocre driver at best. You're more than welcome to ride along. Just don't shit your pants.

I won't shit my pants. I'm used to driving wild on my 4-wheeler and in my uncle's Spectrum through the woods (paths barely wide enough to fit the car through going through it going rather fast). Hopefully I'll make it down. Thanks for saying I can ride along :).

Try not to make it when Nationals are going on in Topeka KS. I was going to try and get beat up a little this year.

You're good to go. No conflict. :D

Right now, we're eyeing the weekend of the 25th of september, which should be the 2nd Ft. Knox event if i remember my dates correctly.

The friday of that weekend would be the 26th, but the September event is on the Sunday the 21st (the weekend before).

10-26 Sunday KYR Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium, Louisville, KY (note: noise restrictions)

Looks like i meant october :o We're shooting for a non-points event so the auto-Xers among the group don't get hurt by the "runt eh tires you drive to GB (or edgewater) on rule.

What's your dilemma?

cindy
06-25-2003, 06:50 PM
Dilemma is as follows:

I just bought a "new" used car. It is a G stock car and even comes with some Victoracers. I have been running STS all year and am in 2nd for the year. I have Azenis tires that will fit. I tried it this past weekend and did not do too well (I guess I need seat time in the car) So I thought I would try the car with race tires.

If I run G stock, I have to use a different number than usual. :( I can run DSP, but I don't have mods yet. I do plan on modding the car eventually, so I can't always stay in G stock. I could just run the street tires, but I have a perfectly good set of race tires in the garage.

In any case, I am very confused.

JoeColeman
06-25-2003, 07:30 PM
I still say run STS for the rest of the season at our events for year end points. Save the race tires for other regions and maybe switching to GS or DSP next season....

Turbo6inKY
06-25-2003, 07:30 PM
I say slap the falkens on it and stay in STS.

But, you've still got enough events left in the season to make a run in GS with the Victoracers.

You really can't lose either way, I don't think. Once you get a hang of the car, you'll be smooth like buttah.

cindy
06-26-2003, 12:18 AM
I guess I will try to finish out STS. I may still run this event with the race tires just for fun. I'll make it to all 8 events this year, so that won't hurt. Of course if I wake up Sunday and don't feel like changing tires, then we'll see a different story.:D

GS for the weekend, STS for the season.

Email from Michael Clevenger with some info about this weekend:

Hello Everyone,
Round #4 of the BlueGrass Motorsport Solo II Challenge happens this weekend at Ft. Knox. Just a reminder that registration is open at www.myautoevents.com. Registering online means that you have an extra half hour to sleep in on Sunday morning so take advantage of this opportunity to join us.

Very important stuff to know about the Ft. Knox event:

Event site entry:
All competitors need to enter at Chaffee Gate, the main gate for the base. The event site will open at 8am.

Fees:
Because of the higher cost of running on the base we will charge $21 for SCCA members and $26 for non-members.

Conduct:
-The MPs at the gate will check your drivers license. Don't try to enter the gate without your license. Have it ready to help the guards.
-Your vehicle is subject to search by the Military Police when you enter the base. They may or may not search your vehicle but DO NOT give the MPs any grief. They have the final word about everything!
-I have heard conflicting opinions about weapons but I would suggest that you do not bring firearms onto the base. This applies to law enforcement folks as well. This also applies to knives, drugs and drug paraphernalia.
-I have also heard differing accounts on radar detectors. I have heard from some folks that they are legal on the base and from others that they aren't. I'll probably leave mine at home. You might want to do the same.
-Speaking of radar detectors. Speed limits on military bases are STRICTLY enforced. Get a ticket and not even Dubya himself can get you off the hook.

Site Setup:
A group of us will be meeting on Saturday at the event site to mow, trim, and set up the course. If you would like to help then bring your trimmers and blowers Satuday morning and give us a hand. We'll meet in the small park just to the left after you pass thru Chaffee Gate.

I will pass along more info as it becomes available.

I look forward to seeing all of you there.

Michael

True enough hehe

Damn you Mike to point that out  I would be running close to the top of the drag times if the Stanza was finished how ironic hehe cause the best times last night were around a 8.3 and that was Coleman and Frazier
