Perhaps the window lock is on?
Don't laugh, it's happened before.

that's a common problem with corrados. Call up Bachman VW 493-2920 and ask for Brian Wilcoxen b/c he knows a thing or two about corrados and he'll tell you what you need to do.

The problem is probably in the door jamb wiring harness. Pull the boot back and check for fraid wires. This happens on all cars, any piece of metal (including wires) can be broken by repeatedly bending it back and forth (opening and closing the door). You can also test the window motor, hold a steady cruise on the throttle and close the door hard while operating the switch. If there is a bad spot in the armature, that may knock it free.

What he said.
I've had two Corrados, both had this same issue, both were just bad grounds where it passes through the door jamb.
