ok so i'm looking for a receiver wiring harness for my car (84 Caprice) and Crutchfield has some in stock...cool. Problem is, it appears the car has about 7 wires missing. :(

Anything I can do? Or should I just invest in a mini boom-box?

What wires are missing? Can you pin point them as in what the wires that are missing do? Sometimes you will see a difference in wireing harnesses because of the different stereo options that came/come in the same base modle vehicles. I would go to a junkyard and find an old caprice and take it out of there. It the connectors are missing the wires should be there, but laying down somewhere. I never really messed with it, but I would check the junkyard for a caprice about that year and take the radio and wires out of it. Let me know I'll help you look around.

That's what I did when I bought my CRX. The guy before me hacked all the wires up so I just went to a junkyard and got a new harness.

I'd say just rerun new wires for whatever.. it's a weekend job we could tackle.

No big deal.

Yeah its not hard to do. I have had a bit of experince in it, but the reason it was "ripped" out of the car was because it started smoking. Thanks to my older brother it ended up on the side of the road somewhere(hes a smart one). I never got around to check what wires were there and what ones were not. I just drove it. If you need any help locating anything or rewiring anything let me know.
