Sammy Sosa got caught with a corked bat today in the game when his bat was broken on a swing. The umpires examined the broken bat and found cork in it and sosa was ejected!
What will this do to his career and image? Did he really hit all those homeruns or has he been cheating for a long time? Boy this sucks for him.

ok, I am prolly gonna get flamed, but why is a "corked" bat so bad for his career??? Lighter to swing therefore easier to hit the ball farther or what?? I am confused.

yea the corked bat makes the ball fly farther basically...enabling him more homeruns. i wouldnt doubt he is a fake and had been using it this whole time. cuz last night on the news when they showed him in the dug out after he found out he was ejected he didnt seem to pissed. but what do i know...

A corked bat is completely illegal. Just like you said, it's lighter to swing and easily makse the ball go farther.....that's why it's illegal. It gives a huge advantage. MLB just wants everything to be fair by having all the players use regular wooden bats and let the players hit it with their own skill.
er....at least this is how it was exlpained to me.

I dont think Sosa corked the bat. He said it was mistakenly placed in the game bats when it was supposed to be used for home run exhibitions.

sosa isn't that type of ball player....it was just misplaced with his game bats....but hey atleast he said it was his....people will probably say well thats how he hit all his homers....but if you look at the size of sosa and how hard he swings the bat....then you know he doesn't need a corked bat

sosa is a hoss! he could probably hit a homer w/ my sons mini bat from the old redbirds games.

Albert Belle anyone? Same thing happened with him. He was totally flamed for it, of course no one liked him much to begin with (I did actually). So a game or two after being chastized and called a fake he slammed a whopping 450+ shot in a home game in Cleveland against Randy Johnson or someone and came out of the dugout after rounding the bases to a standing O, flexed his muscles and pointed to his right bicep and yelled "CORK THIS!" It made the cover of SI and sports pages across the nation the next day. Sammy will probably have to do this to get his name out of the mud, but the guys who owned his bat that hit is 4** home run cut it in half to prove his name. The hall of fame bat, ruined. Oh well, the Dominican has my favor, he's innocent in my book.

then i remember belle trucking the second baseman....that was good shit.....but now after i heard about them taking all of sosa's 70 game bats....and none of them had any sign's of being corked....something tells me he knew it was corked.....he was in a 2/15 slump and didn't think it was a big deal......but if i had to vote he would still go in the hall of fame...
