On another note, a few of the companies that do stuff for the full-size truck diesels have a couple things available for TDIs. Bullydog and Banks IIRC. I definitly wouldn't buy it looking to mod though.

I been doing a lot of research on them lately and seriously been thinking about getting one. go to http://www.tdiclub.com/ and you can learn a lot. Also if you want a good source for VW let me know. My way may not be the best way but it works. I got a guy in the Knobs that buys wrecked VW and rebuilds them and he does great work. My sis got a 2 year old Jetta with 33K miles for 8000.

the Golf, the Beetle, and the Jetta TDI's all were in the top 5 of most fuel effeciant cars of 2003 beating out the Prius and the Civic Hybrid. The Golf 2dr took 1st. They are pretty nice when they are built. Who says it's wrong to be fuel pennies friendly and still be fast?

i would say go for it, im not a tdi expert but its common sense that you can get alot more power from any diesel. I bet putting a nice unrestrictive exhaust, a intake, and a chip and it proboly wouldent be that slow, and if it is you will have one of the nastiest sounding vws around.

i think the TDi's are hottt to trott. nothing like doing minimal mods and being able to bake off the tires in 4th @ like 1,800rpm.

Two people at work have gotten these within the past couple of months. One commutes from Waddy to the airport and back and the other from Bardstown. Another commutes from Danville and has about 300K on his 4 or 5 year old Jetta TDI. These TDI engines scoot like gas engines, yet get 46+ mpg on the highway. Great cars. I'll probably be looking into one in a few years when we move to Bardstown.

I stopped by Clapp in Clarksville last week and looked at one and the guy was telling me how they have a system where they can find the car you are looking for.
