I'm pretty positive my throwout bearing has gone bad.

And it's been suggested to just get a new clutch. So, who knows what they are doing and wants to lend a hand? I can pay in cash or beer, but I have limited supplies of each :o

If its 2wd, it should be pretty simple.

You'll need to borrow a pilot bushing puller (Autozone has them on their loan-a-tool deal)

Jack it up as high as you can get it on stands
Support the transmission with a jack and probably a couple friends
Unbolt the driveshaft
take off the starter motor
disconnected the shifter
undo the bellhousing bolts. Slide the transmission back and then lower it.
Unbolt the pressure plate, remove it and the clutch disc.
Use the pilot bushing puller to get the old pilot bushing out.
Take the throwout bearing off the input shaft of the transmission
Tap the new pilot bushing in (use socket that's the same size and beat it in until its flush
slide the new clutch disc over the little plastic alignment tool that comes in the kit, shove that into the output on the engine where you just tapped in the pilot bushing
bolt the pressure plate on (make sure you get the torque load on the pressure plate bolts correct, and tighten them across from each other like you would lug nuts).
Pull out the little plastic thing
slide the new throwout bearing onto the input shaft of transmission.
lift transmission and slide back onto engine.
put all the bolts back.

Be nice to the clutch for a couple hundred miles.

Korff, if you have space, I can bring to your place. I dunno if driving it is really smart, but hell, I still have AAA gold.

might be able to do it at my house if i can get my car out of the carport this weekend. my neighbor owns an s-10 and he's done it before, so we got backup help. we'll have to see about the space though. do you have a clutch yet?
