Id say its worth around 2-3K, if everything is in good condition besides a blown engine.

I've bought and parted out a few mk3 supras. I've bought them with blown motors for 500-600. I bought my 89 turbo with a blown motor for 500.

The motors run about 875 shipped for a jap take out. That includes shipping.

I'm with him; I bout a 92 turbo w/blown motor four years ago for 500bucks, so if this one is in great shape, he may be able to squeeze $1k out of it with the right buyer.

i dont really know much about the older supras, but is the motor in them the 2jz? and if not, would a 2jz fit in one?

they came w/ a 7mgte or 7mge motors, i believe.
As for the 2jz swap....anything is possible w/ the right amount of $$$.

What he said^^^
And yes it has been done many times before. Because the 7m sucks IMO.

NO
It only came in the Soarers (Turbo SC300) and Supras.
It is almost identical to the 2jzgte but destroked to 2.5 liters, and other small things.
When it comes to popular Supra MKIII swaps the 1JZGTE is actually more comon then the 2JZ. But of corse still most keep the 7M.

That's what I thought, I've read alot about 1jz swaps, but never thought about where the engines came from. Thanks for the info.

:p
I made sure "i said in my opinion."
They dont really for what you can do with them in general aspect. They have great potential. But im just comparing them to the 2jzgte. And I am biased toward the MKIV I guess.
there are quite a few people that have transplanted the 2j in. its not that huge of a deal, have to modify the firewall a bit and a couple other odd things. if you use the r154 it is a bit easier- trying to fit the getrag tranny in is a serious ordeal. the 1j is pretty much straight forward on the 89+. the 86.5-88 use diff cross members so you have to make motor mount adapters. only other problem is since the 1j is jdm only they are rhd and the ecu wiring is too short. have to lengthen the wiring or go stand alone.
there are a few of us that are die hard 7m fans. mainly because several people say you cant make any power out of the 7m. seb in australia is out to prove this in his 8k rpm stock bottom end 800rw+ 7m.
